Bird coloring page for adults on black paper, partly colored with pencils

Birds and butterflies are some of the most colorful things in nature — and on black paper they shine. A barn owl, a monarch butterfly, a peacock, a scarlet macaw, a cardinal and a hummingbird wait in these pages.

Each one is hidden in numbered dots. Color by the key and the feathers appear one dot at a time.

How these bird color by number pages work

Every dot carries a small symbol. The color key tells you which color belongs to it — the same 24-color key across the whole series, so one set of pencils is enough for every page.

The black areas are already printed. You only fill the light dots, one at a time. There is no wrong order: start in a corner, start in the middle, stop whenever you like.

The brightest pages in the series

Macaw reds, peacock blues and monarch oranges are as bright as the color key gets. Expect these pages to pop the most on black paper.

Keep your pencils sharp: feathers have many small color changes, and a fine tip keeps every dot clean.

The best pencils for black paper

Coloring the dots of a black paper color by number page with colored pencils

Colored pencils. The safest choice: they never bleed through, layer nicely and keep every small dot clean.

Markers. The boldest dots. Alcohol markers can soak through any paper — always slip a spare sheet behind the page you are coloring.

Gel pens and colored pens. Bright, smooth and precise in small dots. Let each dot dry for a second before your hand moves over it.
